Alistair co-wrote the feature screenplay SANCTUARY with Rupert Walters, and wrote three-part TV series THE ANTIQUE NOVELTY SHOP based in part on stories by M.R. James. He has also written two one-man stageplays: THE STRANGE CASE OF DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE, based on the book by Robert Louis Stevenson, and GHOST STORIES OF AN ANTIQUARY, again adapted from the works of M.R. James.

 

His books have featured on Guardian and Observer Books of the Year lists, and include SMOKING IN BED: CONVERSATIONS WITH BRUCE ROBINSON and STORY AND CHARACTER: INTERVIEWS WITH BRITISH SCREENWRITERS, both for Bloomsbury; HAMPTON ON HAMPTON for Faber & Faber; and THE ART OF SCREEN ADAPTATION: TOP WRITERS REVEAL THEIR CRAFT, for Creative Essentials.

 

Alistair’s first novel, THE VETTING OFFICER, is now available on Kindle, and his next nonfiction project is a book of interviews with bestselling author and screenwriter William Boyd, for Penguin.
