David Ralph Martin began his career writing for television. In addition to Play for Today and original award-winning screenplays and serials, he wrote for police series from Z Cars to Heartbeat as well as creating 'K9' during his work for Doctor Who. He was also the author of I'm Coming to Get You, Arm and a Leg and Dead Man's Slaughter among several others. David Ralph Martin died in 2007.
