Hannah Hauxwell

From the age of thirty-five, Hannah Hauxwell single-handedly ran her family's farm in an isolated area in Yorkshire. Following the deaths o her parents and uncle, Hannah lived an extraordinary, self-sufficient life without electricity or running water at Low Birk Hatt Farm. Her love of the countryside, her passion for animals and her appreciation of the right values meant that she survived sixty years of gruelling work and weather with unparalleled serenity and good humour.
