The Estate of Janice Elliott

 

Janice Elliott was born in Derbyshire and brought up in wartime Nottingham, the setting for her Southern Arts Award winning bestseller Secret Places which was also made into a prize winning film. She left a career in journalism for full-time writing in 1962 and has over twenty-one novels, five children's books and a collection of stories, The Noise from the Zoo, to her credit.  She was consistently acclaimed by the critics as her and she was described as 'one of the best novelists writing in England.' She was a fiction reviewer for the Sunday Telegraph for many years and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She died in 1995.
