Stephen Brook was born in London in 1947 and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge.  After a career in publishing, he became a full time writer in 1982 and has since written over thirty books, covering such diverse topics as travel, opera, class, the Jewish community in Britain, and the Salvation Army. He has won numerous awards for his wine books, including the André Simon Award in 2007.  His study of the wine of California won three prizes, including the Glenfiddich Award. He is a contributing editor to Decanter magazine and a regular contributor to magazines around the world.
