I read modern history at New College, Oxford before becoming a magazine journalist then joining HarperCollins as a Commissioning Editor in 1994. I became Publishing Director at Weidenfeld & Nicolson in 2003. I published the Sunday Times Top Ten bestsellers REAL BRAVO TWO ZERO (Michael Asher), BLENHEIM (Charles Spencer) and LAST POST (Max Arthur).

I joined Sheil Land Associates as a literary agent in 2007. I am best known for SF/Fantasy and historical fiction; as well as history, biography and music.

Clients include Mark Lawrence, Josiah Bancroft, Asuncion Alvarez, Justin Lee Anderson, Angus Donald, Janet Edwards, Robert Fabbri, Andrew Gant, Dan Godfrey, Peter Hart, Aidan Harte, Geoff Gudgion, Lesley Macdowell, Mark Lawrence, Stephanie Saulter, Anna Smith-Spark, Oliver Soden, Prof. Gary Sheffield, Emily Wilson, Martin Windrow and Julie-Ann Corrigan.

What I'm looking for...

I am looking for epic fantasy, sweeping historical fiction, character-driven science fiction, action/adventure and crime. The joy of being an agent is being able to champion a book without needing the approval of a committee or being restricted to specific fields. So I represent the often bleak but heart-wrenching SF/Fantasy of Mark Lawrence, the compelling literary fantasy of Josiah Bancroft, historical epics by Angus Donald and Robert Fabbri, as well as Oliver Soden’s authorised biography of Noel Coward and Martin Windrow’s bitter-sweet THE OWL WHO LIKED SITTING ON CAESAR.

I am looking for new clients: send me a pitch letter and the full script and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Non-fiction:

On the non-fiction side I am looking for history, biography and music.

Fiction:

Fantasy/Science Fiction

Suspense/thriller

General Fiction
